Dress up to go down to the shops

Who says going down to the shops for some milk has to be boring? I sure don't. There's nothing better than doing the groceries in costume. Be like those three year olds you see that refuse to leave the house in anything other than a Spiderman costume.

My personal favourite is going to the laundromat in a rainbow tutu but you could get some bread in a cape or go to the fish 'n' chip shop dressed as a spy.

Who cares what other people think? Deep down they're wishing they had the courage to do it too.

Make every day Halloween! Besides, who can be unhappy in a cape?

P.S. If you're feeling uncomfortable about doing it on your own, why not join in with something like the Zombie Shuffle, where a huge group of people dress as zombies and just wander the streets?

Make a fort out of blankets

Remember how, when you were a kid, the most fun you could have on a rainy day was building a fort or cubby house out of all your blankets and pillows? Who says you can't do that now!

Sure, now you're a bit bigger and can't fit in a fort made with two chairs and a sheet - but now you can use all the furniture in the house and your parents aren't going to yell at you to clean the mess up.

For an adult sized fort, you'll need some lounge chairs or the dining room table - or even your car. (Bonus points if the car is parked in the street where passerbys can see you in your fort.)
Then get all the blankets, towels, cushions, bedsheets and pillows you can find. Drag in some books, magazines and junk food and you're set for the afternoon.

Now who can be unhappy in a blanket fort?
